Visiting Chatham for business , what we tell our weekday guests
Co-working, conference rooms, client dinners, and the small things you forget when you're in town for one night.
About a third of our weeknight bookings are people in town for work. Court date, plant tour, regional sales call, contract job at one of the manufacturers; it varies.
Here's the practical short list of what they tell us they need, and where to find it.
Where to actually work
Modern Workspace is the closest co-working space to us. Day passes, private offices, a proper conference room. Free coffee. Wi-Fi that holds up to a video call. Better than working from your room if you have meetings. Nobody wants the bed in the background.
For an hour and a coffee, the lobby seating at the Downtown Chatham Centre has tables and outlets, plus a few cafes inside.
Where to take a meeting
Chatham-Kent John D. Bradley Convention Centre has 27,000 square feet of meeting space. If your conference is here, you already know. If you need a small private room for a one-on-one, they'll usually rent it half-day.
The Chatham Cultural Centre has the Kiwanis Theatre and the Thames Art Gallery in the same building, a quieter venue for a presentation or a client dinner. Civic Centre Drive, ten minutes from us.
Where to take a client to dinner
For something the client will tell their colleagues about: Lavender & Honey downtown (small, weekend reservations required) or Mamma Maria's on King Street (Italian, family-run, easier to get a table on weeknights).
For something quick and easy with someone you've worked with for a decade: any of the spots in our restaurant guide.
Where to fix the small things
- Same-day dry cleaning: ask the desk. There are two within a five-minute drive.
- Last-minute pharmacy: Shoppers and Rexall both have Chatham locations. Closest is on Grand Avenue East, about three minutes.
- Car wash before flying out: a couple options near the 401 ramp; we'll point you at whichever is open.
